Frequently Asked Questions

What is bacteriostatic water?

Sterile water preserved with 0.9% benzyl alcohol. It is the standard diluent for reconstituting lyophilized (freeze-dried) research compounds in laboratory settings. BacWater products are for research use only — not intended for human consumption.

How is it different from sterile water?

Plain sterile water contains no preservative and must be used within hours of opening. Bacteriostatic water's benzyl alcohol inhibits microbial growth, allowing multi-use over up to 28 days when stored correctly.

Are all sales final?

Yes. All sales of research-use materials are final. We do not accept returns or issue refunds. If your shipment arrives damaged, contact us with photos and your order number. See our shipping policy for details.

Is each lot tested?

Yes. Every lot is independently tested for sterility, endotoxin levels, and preservative concentration. Certificates of analysis are published per lot on our Lab Results page.

How should I store it?

Room temperature, protected from light. Once opened, use within 28 days. Do not freeze.

Do you ship internationally?

Currently U.S. domestic only. Free shipping on orders $150 and up. See our shipping policy for the full schedule.

What payment methods do you accept?

Major credit and debit cards via our processor. Checkout pending.

How do I verify a lot?

Each product page links to the full lab-result history for that item. Every COA carries a lot number, test date, results, and the independent lab name. The COA URL is canonical — scan the QR on the label to verify.
